The EarthWatch Awards is an international award presented annually to individuals, institutions, organizations or companies and recognizes outstanding actions.

Created by EarthWatch in 2002 (an international development organization with Headquarter in Port Harcourt, Rivers State) the EarthWatch Awards was founded to annually honour men, women and organizations exhibiting exceptional creativity, courage, and commitment in improving the quality of all kinds of life in the society.

The Awards aim to draw national and international attention to the laureates' contributions to sustainable development, humanity, better living, dignity and character, thus generating more recognition and support for their individuality and projects.

Purpose

These awards are not based on politics, or sycophancy. These awards are not meant for organizations that exist for themselves only and have no characters. These awards are for men and women and organizations that have been found worthy because of what they have given, and done to and for their people and society. The purpose of these awards is not simply a pat in the back for a job well done, but in as much as it stands as a commendation, it is also a challenge to the awardees, to keep the flag flying.
